Gujarat skipper Parthiv Patel hurt the middle finger on his left hand while keeping wickets during the ongoing Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash against Bengal at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday
"He got hit twice or thrice on his finger and it was hurting badly. Not sure what the update is on his injury though," Manprit Juneja, Gujarat batsman, said at the end of day's play.
Parthiv was selected in India’s squad for South Africa as a backup keeper. The tour will be starting from January 5, 2018, where India will be playing 3 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20Is.
The injury was momentary as Parthiv felt acute pain and had to leave the field. Anuj Rawal came in as a substitute and kept wickets for Gujarat for the rest of day 4.The injury could have ended hopes of Parthiv’s participation in the series against the Proteas. However, in a tweet later he has rumored the reports of his finger injury.
“Thank you for the concern…there is nothing wrong with my finger…,” tweeted Parthiv Patel.
