Eden Gardens likely to be finalized as the venue for historic India-Afghanistan inaugural Test

Afghanistan got the Test status from ICC in June this year, along with Ireland.

Afghanistan will be the 4th nation to play its debut Test against India

Afghanistan cricket board recently confirmed that it will play its inaugural Test match against India.

Now the venue for this historic Test match is almost confirmed and it has been learnt that legendary Eden Gardens might host the iconic Test between the two nations in February or March, 2018.

BCCI and Afghanistan Cricket Board are nearing finalization of details regarding the debut Test of the newest Test playing nation.

Afghanistan, along with Ireland were granted Test status by ICC in June this year and Ireland announced that they will play their inaugural Test against Pakistan next year in May, at home. Meanwhile, Afghanistan has adopted the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, India as their ‘home ground’ and have been playing home matches in India ever since.

Afghanistan will be the fourth nation to play their debut Test against India, with others been Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe; it needed an iconic venue like Eden Gardens to do justice to the joyous occasion.
