West Indies’ middle order batsman Sunil Ambris seems to have made the habit of stepping on to his wickets while executing his shots. During the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, Ambris has got out in this fashion in 2 out of his 3 innings thus far.

In the first innings of the opening Test at Basin Reserve Wellington, the 24-year-old Ambris had experienced a terrible start to his Test career as he walked back onto his wickets off the bowling of Kiwi left-arm pacer Neil Wagner. It was the very first ball that he faced in his Test match career and thereby became the first player in cricket history to record a hit-wicket golden duck on debut.

Likewise, in the first innings of the ongoing second Test at Seddon Park Hamilton, Ambris went on to the back foot while tackling a short pitch delivery from Trent Boult and consequently touched the stumps with his back leg. Even though Ambris managed to get off the mark on this occasion but the disappointment was quite visible on his face as he walked back to the pavilion.

West Indies had lost the first Test by an innings and 67 runs while they are struggling in the second Test as the Kiwis have taken a massive lead of 429 runs after 75.2 overs in their second innings. With two more days still to go, it would be tough for the visitors to save this Test. Following the Test series, Windies are scheduled to play 3 ODIs and as many T20Is against the Black Caps.
