Virat Kohli's Twitter following grows by 61%, Sachin Tendulkar's 56%

Indian cricket heartthrob Virat Kohli enjoys a massive fan following all across the globe owing to his awe-inspiring performances on the cricket field. In fact, the admirers list of Kohli is rapidly increasing with each passing day and it can be seen from the fact that the Indian captain’s Twitter following has amplified by 61% in 2017.

As per the microblogging site Twitter report capturing trends in 2017, the 29-year-old Virat saw his followers grow by 61% whereas India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s follower base increase by 52%.

While Kohli is ending the year with 20.8 million followers, from 12.9 million in 2016, the honourable PM has touched the mark of  37.5 million (as of December 4), as against 24.6 million last year.

As far as Indian cricket’s demigod Sachin Tendulkar is concerned – the Master Blaster saw a growth of 56% in his follower base on Twitter this year. Interestingly, this is the first time Kohli and Tendulkar made it to the list of top 10 most followed Indian accounts, as revealed by Twitter.

For the Indian celebrities, the list was largely dominated by Bollywood artists with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Deepika Padukone among others saw their fan base increasing considerably.

Twitter’s annual data also revealed that the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 Final clash between India and Pakistan was the most tweeted ODI affair ever with 1.8 million tweets.
