Australia is slated to play India in a four-match Test series at home next year with Sydney and Melbourne are certain to host two of the Test matches. While Adelaide Oval secured the final Test against India, Brisbane paid the price for an aging Gabba.

The Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) Ground, Perth, which was denied a Test match when India toured Down Under in 2013-14, will host Virat Kohli’s troops at a mesmerizing $1 billion, 65,000 capacity Burswood stadium.

Whether Adelaide will stage its fourth day-night Test affair or not – will be determined when Cricket Australia and the Board of Cricket Control India (BCCI) will finalize the 2018-19 tour itinerary next month.

“It hasn’t been discussed with the BCCI and I can’t assume anything but it would be nice to have the first day-night Test featuring India,” SACA chief executive Keith Bradshaw was quoted by The Sunday Mail as saying.

“I think we would attract an enormous amount of overseas visitors if we did. We would certainly be keen to do that,” he further said.

The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and Queensland Cricket made presentations to Cricket Australia concerning the hosting rights for an India Test during the lead up to the ongoing Ashes series opener at Brisbane. However, Adelaide’s record-breaking 55,000 cricket crowd on Day 1 of the first day-night Ashes Test meant that the venue is ahead of Gabba in the pecking order to host India.

“We have talked with Cricket Australia, our attendances are the second best in the country, the pitch gets terrific reviews. There are a whole range of factors put forward. India is premium content, being a powerhouse. We are putting our best foot forward,” Bradshaw concluded as saying.
