Harmanpreet Kaur, who has become a household name owing to her remarkable performance in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, signed a bat endorsement deal with CEAT on Monday (January 22). The Moga born batswoman also became the first woman cricketer from India to secure a deal with CEAT.

Akin to the likes of India’s prominent batsmen – Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane, Harmanpreet will now be seen playing with a bat having CEAT sticker on it.

"I am delighted to be associated with CEAT that is already represented by icons of Indian cricket. Taking the momentum of 2017 forward I look forward to putting in consistent performances for the team this year," Kaur said in a release as per PTI.

Harmanpreet grabbed the eyeballs of cricket fraternity with her scintillating 171 not out against the Southern Stars at Derby which propelled India into the finals of last year’s ICC Women’s World Cup. During the showpiece event, India had surprised one and all and went on to play the final. However, they couldn’t cross the final hurdle as they lost the final agonizingly to England by 9 runs.

"The Indian Women's cricket team has been performing brilliantly over the years and we at CEAT strongly believe in supporting the sport," Vice President Marketing, CEAT Limited, Nitish Bajaj was quoted by PTI as saying.

"We are proud to sign Harmanpreet Kaur as our first women cricketer on board, who has been an inspiration to budding cricketers on and off the field," Bajaj further added.

Despite falling short in the Women’s World Cup, Mithali Raj and company had received an awe-inspiring reception from the fans upon their arrival in Mumbai. Subsequently, many members of the team have been felicitated for their astonishing show. Madhya Pradesh government facilitated the entire team with a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh while the cricket board had also announced the prize money of Rs 50 lakh for each member of the squad.
