India defeated Sri Lanka in the 3rd ODI at Vizag to win its 9th consecutive bilateral series since last year. India beat Sri Lankans by 8 wickets thanks to century from Shikhar Dhawan and fifty by Shreyas Iyer.
However, bigger contribution came from the Indian spin twins Chahal and Kuldeep, who picked 3 wickets each to rout a rampaging Lankan batting lineup and restricted them to 215. Lankans were 136/1 in 23rd over, but two wickets in a single Kuldeep Yadav over turned the tide in India’s favor.
Both the spinners had their highlights, when Kuldeep Yadav got Tharanga out for 95, all thanks to an opportunistic stumping by MS Dhoni. Another highlight was the dismissal of Angelo Mathews, who had scored a good century in the previous match.
Chahal bowled a perfect leg spinner to Mathews, who tried to play it as a straighter one, but the ball spun enough to miss his bat and knock back his off stump in the 34th over of the innings.
Mathews couldn't believe that his stumps were rattled, despite him playing the correct line.
