Sri Lankan skipper Thisara Perera, on Tuesday, expressed his desire to win a maiden series in India by winning second One Day International of the three-match ODI series today in Mohali.

The touring side had shown pretty huge character in the series opener and won the Dharamsala ODI, and Captain Perera urges his team put the same flawless performance and help their team to register a maiden series win against India at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.  

According to a report in PTI, Thisara Perera told reporters on the eve of the second ODI, “It is a good opportunity to win the series. Not many teams have won series in India. We want to do something special, like we did in Dharamsala.”

On being asked if there is an added pressure on his team, Perera said, “It is not pressure. It is another game for us. Everyone knows if we win tomorrow we will win the series. We will give our 200 percent.”

After losing Dharamsala ODI, India will definitely bounce back strongly in the Mohali ODI, but the Lankan all-rounder was not distracted with the talks and said they are only focused on their job and will try to give their best to win the series against India. Perera further added on the same, “Yes they can but we are focused on our job. It was good to win after 12 losses and we know if we can repeat that performance, we will win tomorrow.”

Commenting on Mohali track, the Sri Lankan captain, who has the experience of playing at this ground as being part of Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League, adding, “It looks like a good batting track.”

As of Indian batsmen, Ajinkya Rahane has been overlooked for the ODIs and when asked about his absence in Dharamsala on a pacer-friendly track, the Lankan skipper avoids opining on his exclusion.

Perera concluded by saying, “I am not an Indian selector, so I can't say why he did not play. Obviously, he is a good batsman. I can't say anything more than that.”
