When it becomes to batsmanship across all three formats in cricket, India skipper Virat Kohli is no less than a monster as he recorded his sixth double ton in Test cricket within a span of just 17 months. It was Kohli’s second double hundred of the series and now the 29-year-old has equalled the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in the list of most double hundred by an Indian in Test cricket.
During his marathon knock at his home ground (Feroz Shah Kotla), the Delhi lad also surpassed West Indian batting great Brian Lara (5) as a captain to boast most double centuries to his name. In the preceding Test at Nagpur, Virat had notched up his fifth double hundred in Test cricket with a scintillating inning of 213 as India annihilated the Lankans by an innings and 239 runs.
On Sunday (November 3) morning, Twitterverse were in awe seeing the appetite and consistency of the Indian captain. Here is how the Twitter world reacted to this momentous feat by Virat Kohli:
6th double hundred for Virat in less than 500 days. Special players make it count and Virat Kohli is extra special. Amazing intent right from the beginning.#INDvSL

Six double hundreds in all of 17 months. Making batting look ridiculously easy. Can't be right? If it was, the others would stack up the same numbers. Modern Master. #INDvSL #RunMachine @imVkohli ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»

RUN MACHINE @imVkohli: I've lost count of the number of centuries he's scored this year, and double tons in his career. Could we be seeing his first triple today I wonder...

Back to back 200s for Kohli. Called it when he had 46. Even allowing for Sri Lanka’s attack, it’s extraordinary. #INDvSL

Kohli definitely struggling with a niggle. Possibly back. Makes this innings all the more stunning. So much time left in the game, 300 there for the taking. #IndvSL #cricket

Till 2016, Virat Kohli didn't have a single double century. Now he has six. Shows you that great players make a good phase really count.
