Having won the first T20I against Ireland by a massive margin of 76 runs, India skipper Virat Kohli and the team management were keen to test their bench strength in the second T20I at The Village, Dublin on Friday (June 29).
Consequently, the likes of MS Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah were rested from Friday’s encounter while KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Umesh Yadav and Siddarth Kaul made it to the playing XI.
Although the new combination didn't alter the outcome from the previous game, with India registering a thumping 143-run victory, Dhoni grabbed the attention of the cricketing fraternity even as a substitute.
During the drinks break, Dhoni couldn’t stop himself from touching the ground. The 36-year-old walked out to serve drinks for Suresh Raina and Manish Pandey during India’s innings. He also carried a kit bag on his shoulders.
