Team India started off their Ireland tour on a good note as they defeated Ireland by 76 runs in the first T20I match at Malahide, Dublin, Ireland on June 27.

Batting first after losing the toss, Indian team piled up 208/5 thanks to a 160 run opening stand between Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. In reply, Irish batsmen found it difficult to play the Indian wrist spinning duo of Chahal and Kuldeep, as they picked 7 wickets in between them to keep Ireland 132/9 in 20 overs. Kuldeep won the Man of the match for his 4/21- career-best T20I figures.

However, the talk of the town was Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, as the duo was looking in great touch and pulverized the Irish bowlers for 16 overs, as they played some exquisite shots. Dhawan scored 74 off 45 balls with 5 fours and as many sixes. Rohit Sharma went a notch further and was looking good for his 3^rd T20I century, but was bowled for 97 off 61 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes.

The combination of Dhawan-Rohit will be extremely important for Indian team’s success against England in the upcoming limited overs series.
