Virat Kohli is likely to receive a major setback ahead of India’s first T20 International in Ireland, as his young all-rounder Washington Sundar suffered an injury and had to leave the field during the practice session,  as reported by Press Trust of India on Wednesday (27 June).

On the eve of the first T20I to be played on Wednesday in Dublin, the 18-year-old all-rounder participated in a football game and in the fielding drills during the warm-up before hobbling out.

It is being said that Washington was unable to walk out of the field himself and due to which the youngster had to ask the two members of the support staff for help during the team’s warm-up.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to make any announcement regarding Sundar’s injury, which is a cause of concern for Washington Sundar.

However, BCCI might soon announce a replacement for Washington if the situation goes wrong with the all-rounder before the first Irish T20I.

BCCI seems in no hurry to announce Washington’s replacement, as India A team is already in England to play England Lions and West Indies A in the One Day Tri-series with Axar Patel and Krunal Pandya,  the probable options to look at for the limited-overs’ series in England next month.

The Men in Blue will play Ireland on Wednesday in the first T20I with the final to be played on 29 June in Dublin, then will fly back to England for a full-flagged series starting with the first T20I on 3 July at Old Trafford.
