Irish all-rounder Kevin O'Brien has come out and stated that he is happy with the way Ireland is shaping up ahead of their 2 T20 Internationals series against India in Dublin. Kevin believes even though the results weren't the best but Ireland did collectively well during their T20I triangular series in the Netherlands, that also included Scotland. Kevin has also stated the fact that he is looking to make a mark in his favorite format after playing the format in more than a handful of countries.

Kevin was recently quoted saying, “We came together well in Holland and we showed great improvements over the ten days – we probably should have won three of the games, which was a little disappointing. But it was great to see George (Dockrell) back to his best as a bowler,”

It is the fact T20 is Kevin's favourite format that makes him confident for the stern challenge against India.

He said, “Twenty20 is definitely my favourite format. It suits the type of player I am. Maybe for some. But I try to bat the same in all formats, Obviously, in T20 you take a lot more risks, so that takes a slight shift in the mental side of it.”

He further talked about how more game time against top teams like India will help Ireland consistently get better at the highest level, by saying, “We’ll get a lot more opportunities in the near future, so we can get back to where we were back around 2012, 2013 when we were almost unbeatable.”

Kevin is also excited about the emergence of youngsters like Joshua Little in the Irish setup. 18-year-old fast bowler, Little has only played 2 T20Is so far and is part of the squad that will take on against India.

He said, “I like Josh, he’s got a lot to offer. He played a couple of low-key games a couple of years ago, but there’s something about him, He had two very good Under-19 World Cups and he’s a confident player, not afraid to try things. And he’s a useful bat too.”

The two T20 Internationals will be played at Malahide in Dublin on 27th and 29th June.
