IPL 2018: David Warner feels SRH should be proud of their outstanding show in IPL 11

David Warner, who led Sunrisers Hyderabad to their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title in 2016, is quite disappointed with the result in the IPL 2018, as he was expecting SRH to lift the trophy, but Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged as the champions.

David Warner was banned by the BCCI, along with his fellow Australian Steve Smith, from participating in the recently concluded 11th edition of the T20 tournament following the ball-tampering controversy in South Africa.

With the effect, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was handed the responsibility of leading the Orange Army in the IPL 2018, and the right-hander led the side from the front with the bat, leading SRH to final of the T20 event against the CSK.

Williamson, who was awarded the Orange Cap with 735 runs in 17 matches at an astonishing strike rate of 142.44 and average of 52.50. He led Hyderabad with laurels in the absence of Warner, but SRH team came undone in the final leg of the tournament, losing their last five matches including final in the IPL 2018.

However, SRH’s brilliant all-around effort put them in the final of the IPL 2018, but Williamson’s bowlers' ability to defend totals disappeared as the final leg of the tournament came closer and they lost the coveted trophy to Chennai.

Meanwhile, Warner said that though the result was not in the SRH's favor, the Orange army have done outstandingly throughout the IPL 2018, and they should take pride from it.

The explosive opener also lauded his fellow countryman Shane Watson for his fantastic knock of 117 in the final, which helped CSK to clinch the title for the third time in the IPL 2018.

Warner wrote on Twitter, “Seriously good knock by @ShaneRWatson33 well-done mate simply amazing to watch. Not the result @SunRisers wanted but you have to pat yourselves on the back and say well done for the way you played throughout the tournament ????”
