Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Shane Watson lauded the “excellent” support given by the CSK’s management and team after his sensational 2018 IPL season with the Yellow brigade following a disappointing 2017 season with the with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The 36-year-old right-hander hammered his second century of the IPL 2018 in the final of the T20 event to help CSK to beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad and clinch the title for the third time in Mumbai on 27 May.
In the IPL 2018, Watson has amassed 555 runs in his 15 outings for CSK at an amazing strike rate of 154.59 and average of 39.64, as well as, has taken 6-wickets in the tournament.
As per reports in Hindustan Times, Watson told reporters at the post-match conference, “It’s just been a special season. To get an opportunity after my previous year was incredible.”
Commenting on his match-winning knock, former Australian all-rounder stated, “Things fell my way nicely tonight but to be able to do it in such a big game, it’s very special. After those first ten balls, I was hoping to catch up. Wanted to get run-a-ball before getting out. Bhuvi was excellent so we had to see the first six overs without any damage. Once the ball stopped swinging, it got easier.”
Watson signed off by saying, “The good thing is I don’t have to play for a few months, so have some time to recover. The support with MS (Dhoni), (Stephen) Fleming and (Tommy) Simsek was excellent.”
