Two times champions Kolkata Knight Riders have had an admirable IPL season despite the absence of their star bowler Mitchell Starc due to injury. They finished at the third position in IPL 2018 under a new captain Dinesh Karthik.
KKR won 9 out of 16 matches this IPL and their season came to an end when they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 2 match.
Kolkata Knight Riders began their IPL 2018 campaign with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens but they couldn't keep the winning momentum and lost the way in the midseason and lost six out of next 10 matches.
They made a comeback with three back to back wins at the end of league stage and finished at the third position in the points table and qualified for the playoffs. Captain Dinesh Karthik, openers Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine were their top three performers with the bat and in bowling department spin trio Kuldeep Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Piyush Chawla did well throughout the season. Newcomers Shubman Gill and Prasidh Krishna too had a good season.
