Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is all set to play  the Eliminator of the IPL 2018 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday (23 May) and Head Coach Jacques Kallis believes that his team have to display the aggressive brand of cricket at Eden Gardens to make it to the final Qualifier against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

There was no one who expected that the Royals to make it to the IPL Playoffs 2018 but they did that shows how they can be dangerous for KKR, admitted the South African great before 23 May’s play.

KKR coach further said that “calmness” and “trust in each other” have been one of their strengths so far in the T20 tournament, and the players just need to carry it to Kolkata to win the match against the RR.

In his column for Times of India, Kallis wrote, “We will approach Wednesday’s game against Rajasthan with momentum and confidence and also with the same aggressive brand of cricket we have tried to play with all season. We honestly had no preference who we played when there were still three or four teams vying for that fourth place, but it did look as though the Royals were ‘outsiders’ with a couple of games to go. The Rajasthan players probably feel as though they have been given a second life, a chance at the playoffs they almost certainly weren’t expecting, so that makes them dangerous.”

Former South African all-rounder further added on the same, “This is a bonus for them and I expect they will throw caution to the wind and try to take the game away from us early. All the ‘one-percenters’ count double in knockout matches, that’s where the game is often decided. Calmness under pressure and trust in each other have been two of our greatest strengths this season and I’ll be hoping for plenty more of the same; as well as loads of energy and a little bit of luck.”

Of course, there will home advantage with KKR in the Eliminator against the KKR, admitted the Coach, terming Kolkata crowd as the best in the country.

Kallis signed off by saying, “Home ground advantage will be enormous, of course. Naturally, I’m biased but Eden Gardens is the best stadium in India with the best crowd – the Royals will have to overcome them as well as the players to stay alive.”
