Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) once again failed to perform upto their reputation as the star-studded side couldn't qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2018 and finished at the sixth position in the league stage with only six wins from fourteen games.
Royal Challengers Bangalore began their IPL 2018 journey with a loss against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens and registered their first win at home Bangalore in their second match but they failed to perform with consistency and lost five out of first seven games, in the second half of the league their bowling put up a good fight and they won three consecutive games and it gave them some hopes of qualifying for the playoffs, but in the last league match against Rajasthan Royals, their batting collapsed and this ended their season on a disappointing note.
Captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers performed through out the season as the duo combinedly scored more than 1000 runs this season but it was not enough to win the games as they had no support from the lower order batsmen. In bowling department Umesh Yadav has been excellent as the pacer ended up with 20 wickets, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj too had a good season with the ball. Death bowling was RCB's achilles heel in IPL 2018.
