Mumbai Indians suffered a heart-wrenching 11-run defeat at the hands of Delhi Daredevils on Sunday (May 20) at Feroz Shah Kotla. With this loss, the defending champions let slip the opportunity to qualify for the playoffs.

In order to lessen the agony of Mumbai fans, skipper Rohit Sharma shared a special message via Twitter on Monday (May 21). In his message, Sharma mentioned that disappointing outcomes are part and parcel of life and they will look to turn things around in the next season.

"Disappointing to be out of the tournament, I guess that's life and sport. We can't always get what we want. We did fight hard but I guess the opposition were just a little better on the day. Will look to turn things around next year," Rohit tweeted.

In IPL 2018, Mumbai Indians managed to win only 6 out of their 14 league matches and finished at No. 5 on the points table. Besides MI’s abysmal show, Rohit Sharma didn’t step up to the plate with the bat either.

The Mumbai Indians captain amassed only 286 runs in the 14 innings of this year’s IPL. Sharma was instrumental with the bat in Mumbai’s three IPL triumphs. While Rohit has piled up 538 runs in IPL 2013, he has aggregated 482 runs and 333 runs in IPL 2015 and IPL 2017 respectively.
