The 50th match of IPL 2018 witnessed Mumbai taking on the Kings XI Punjab at the Wankhede Stadium, where the former registered a nerve-wrecking 3-run victory despite KL Rahul’s heroics.

Rahul scored a blistering 94 runs off 60 balls (10 fours and 3 sixes) to almost single-handedly guide KXIP home before Jasprit Bumrah’s awe-inspiring spell changed the course of the game. Bumrah finished with the figures of 4-0-15-3 whereas Mitchell McClenaghan successfully defended 16 runs in the final over to secure the thriller for Mumbai.

Even though Rahul seemed visibly dejected with the eventual outcome, he exhibited a great sportsmen spirit and swapped his jersey with MI all-rounder Hardik Pandya after the match. Exchanging jerseys in football matches is a very common trend, however, it was the first instance when two players exchanged their jersey in IPL.

With his herculean batting effort last night, KL Rahul once again became the leading run-scorer in IPL 2018. He has amassed 652 runs in 13 innings of this year’s IPL with 6 fifties.

Kings XI Punjab on the other hand, after this defeat, are very much at the doorstep of being knocked out of the tournament with one game to go. They play their last game against Chennai on Sunday in a bid to stake their claims for a top-four finish.
