Andrew Tye, the right-arm Kings XI Punjab fast bowler, has come out and stated that his team's another defeat, this time to the Mumbai Indians last night, is extremely saddening & bitterly disappointing for him and the Ravichandran Ashwin led side.

Kings XI Punjab saw Mumbai Indians score 186 having stutters along the way and then despite KL Rahul's magnificent 94 from 60 balls they lost the whole thing by just 3 runs. It was a must-win game for Kings XI Punjab as they had won only 6 of their 12 games before it.

Andrew Tye was quoted saying after the match that, “It’s bitterly disappointing that we didn’t get a win again tonight. We figured that it was a par score on that wicket, we had the firepower in our team to chase it down, we just couldn’t do it,”

“Doesn’t really matter if I take 4 for 16 or someone else takes 4 for 16, it’s obvious that someone has let you down and it is not a whole team effort and that is something that we have struggled for a lot this IPL. We haven’t had enough blokes standing up, other than KL (Rahul) with the bat or myself or Mujeeb (Ur Rahman) with the ball.”

He further added, “Fair credit to Mumbai. I personally feel they won the game with their fielding, In a close match like that, they made a couple of really good saves on the boundary, chased a couple of balls down and that makes a difference when you lose a game by five (three) runs.”

Tye was outstanding himself with the bowling figures of 4-0-16-4 for his team. Talking about his excellent proficiency at the end overs, he said, “It’s the unpredictability, Being able to read the wicket, figure out what sort of batsman likes to hit where and try an almost stay away from those zones or just try and not let the batsman get comfortable against you"

"Luckily, I tend to bowl at the death, batsmen are always trying to hit you so I know for a fact that I am going to pick up some lucky wickets here and there, that’s the nature of the game. Tonight, I was happy to be able to get three upfront for our team and really get us back on track as a team but the fact is we didn’t win, so wasn’t enough.”

There was a light-off interruption in the game that seemed to have completely changed the whole game on his head as before it Kings XI Punjab had most things in control. Tye talked about it saying, “Sure people can look at it and say we lost momentum after the break but at the same time we didn’t have anyone else stand up. First few games we had KL (Rahul), Gayle, Karun (Nair) all score half-centuries or century but since the break, only KL is the batsman whose passed fifty"

“As good as our bowling attack is and how well we are able to control teams, the fact that we haven’t been completing a performance as a team with both bat and ball and in the field, sums up why we haven’t won games in the latter stages.”

Tye concluded by summing up the whole situation for his team and said, “It’s up to the individuals to fix it. Once they realise the team needs something special from them, it’s about being able to not put too much pressure on themselves. I hope that we find a way, if it happens this year and we’re still lucky to make finals, that’s great. But hopefully moving forward we can address that issue and be a strong competitor in this competition in the next couple of years.”
