Andrew Tye, the Kings XI Punjab fast bowler, has come out and stated after his side's massive hammering at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders, that his side needs their key players other than the KL Rahul to step-up for them.

KL Rahul has been scintillating form in this Indian Premier League season and played a lone hand of 66 from 28 balls against the KKR. Beyond him, Kings XI Punjab players left a lot to be desired.

Talking about his team, Andrew Tye was quoted saying, “Definitely, we’d love to have someone other than KL stand up and go with KL – put a couple of performances on and really sort of hammer it home,”

“Finchy (Aaron Finch who made 34 off 20) stood up a bit today… but, you know he was doing the team thing trying to get what he could because it was do or die at that stage. But yes, it is disappointing we are not getting our consistency with our batting. And I felt our bowling probably let off 20 or 30 runs too many today.”

What has gone wrong for the Ravichandran Ashwin led side, is the drop in form of their two matchwinners Chris Gayle and Mujeeb Zadran in crucial games. Tye has echoed this reality.

He has been doing a fine job for the side though, he has done the tough work of bowling in the end overs this year and has done that quite well. Talking about his own bowling and performance, Andrew Tye said, “I try not to be too predictable,”

“Batsmen know that I’m going to bowl my slower ball more often than not, so I have to keep coming up with ways to catch them off-guard, whether it be a quicker ball or a wider slower ball or a short slower ball. Just basically not be too predictable and try and keep them guessing as much as I can.”

“It’s a small ground, it’s a good wicket – there’s not much for the bowlers out there, It is tough, but you’ve got to communicate within the team and figure it out: where to bowl to what batsman, how to bowl, see what we can do. We didn’t execute our skills as well as we would have liked today. The heat’s not a factor. It was hot today, but it’s hot every day in India. We train during the day at times, so I think everyone is well aware leading into this game that it was going to be hot and prepared well.”
