Yusuf Pathan, the Sunrisers Hyderabad power hitter, has come out and stated that he is delighted to have contributed to the success of SRH this season and the team is happy with the job that he's done, too.

Yusuf was recently quoted saying to the India Today that, "Mashallah, it is a great thing for me personally and Hyderabad team as a whole, Becoming the first team to enter the playoffs this season is really special. We have done well in all the three departments so far. The most important thing for any team is how they perform under pressure and we have done that consistently this season by defending low scores and chasing big totals as well."

Taking about the game where SRH conceded over 180 against Delhi Daredevils because of a special inning from Rishab Pant and still recovered to win, Yusuf said, "Our bowlers have done really well and the skipper (Kane Williamson) has used them so intelligently. Look at someone like Siddharth (Kaul) who has even been selected in the Indian team for the tour of England. In that game vs Delhi the other night, the way Rishabh Pant was batting, their score could've reached beyond 230 but we restricted them,"

"Rishabh batted so well against us and has been going great guns in this tournament. It feels so good to see an Indian batsman doing this,"

Yusuf had an unfortunate incident recently where starting off the first class season well for Baroda, he missed the action for next 5 months owing to the doping issue.

Yusuf talking about that period, said, "Yes, those five months when I didn't play first class weren't that easy. But people didn't know what I was doing during that time. I was further honing my fitness and cricket skills during that period, You can see it now how it has helped me. I utilised that time well. I wanted to make sure that whenever I play a big tournament people shouldn't criticise my performance and say it is a result of not having played cricket for such a long time."

"That is benefitting me now. My teammates, my management is happy with whatever I have contributed to so far and that is what really matters to me. The match-winning ability and performing under pressure has been key for me this season too. I am happy and so is my coaching staff."

Talking about the hopes of returning to play for India, again, one day. The 36-year-old said,"Age is talked a lot about in India but nobody mentions much about it in Australia or England. It is given a lot of mileage here but till the time you are performing, winning matches for your team, helping the next generation, it doesn't matter at all.",
