The timings of the playoff matches and the final of the ongoing IPL 2018 have been preponed to 7 pm from the original 8 pm IST.

The four games - Qualifier 1 and the final in Mumbai and Eliminator and Qualifier 2 in Kolkata - will now begin an hour earlier, the BCCI confirmed through a media release. This was done keeping in mind that the 8 pm matches were stretching past midnight.

"What happens is that the night games get over by midnight. We wanted to start the games early from the beginning, but some of the franchises didn't agree to it. They especially had a problem with them on weekends which generally have a double-header scheduled. The playoff stage has a single game on the day and we can start by 7 pm so that the people who come to the ground can enjoy the match and also reach home on time," IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Qualifier 1 will be played in Mumbai on May 22, while the eliminator and Qualifier 2 will be played in Kolkata on May 23 and 25 respectively.

The final will be held in Mumbai on the 27th May.
