Simon Katich, the assistant coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has come out and reflected that it is the chasing where his team's strength lies more than defending the scores. It is purely because of how this season has panned out for the two times champions this year, they have failed to defend some stiff looking scores but have managed to win while chasing such scores on the back of their power-hitters filled batting line up.

Simon Katich was quoted saying ahead of KKR's important clash with Kings XI Punjab that, “One thing we have done well this tournament is chasing. Obviously, against Mumbai (Indians) that wasn’t the case. Generally, we chase well. It’s just the matter of our batsmen showing the positive frame of mind, trusting they are in good form,”

KKR languishing in the bottom half of the table having won just 5 of their 11 games so far, But, relative to what Katich says, they won four of these five games while chasing.

It has pushed them into a situation where they'll have to win all of their games to have a chance to qualify for the playoffs and they'll be up against the Kings XI games who need two wins from their next four matches.

Talking about this crucial encounter, Simon Katich talked about how determined his side is in trying to change their fortunes quickly. He said, “We are confident of turning things around. There’s pressure but the team is capable enough to handle it. Yes, the last few games haven’t been ideal for us but I’m expecting a tough fight from the boys. Two pretty hungry teams will be playing (on Saturday). Both can’t afford to lose,”

Two youngsters have impressed everyone from the KKR set-up and they've been Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi but both, unfortunately, missed KKR's last few games because of the injuries. Katich on this cleared and said, “Both seem fine (for now). Hopefully, both will be available for selection.”
