At the bottom of the points table, its crunch time for Delhi Daredevils to get their campaign sorted and start winning if they are to make it to the playoffs.
Tonight they face a stiff challenge against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home in a must-win encounter. SRH are already through to the playoffs bagging 16 points from 10 games. They are the only team who have sealed their berth in the top four as off now and look the top team in the tournament.
Delhi have their campaign in tatters as they find themselves at the bottom of the points table. They lost their previous match against the Sunrisers in Hyderabad and even as they host SRH in Delhi tonight, Daredevils are in the back foot ahead of the contest.
SRH boasting of having the best bowling attack in the tournament has defended almost everything in every match and this why they find themselves at the top of the points table.
Batting wise, captain Kane is literally guiding them to totals in every match and playing the anchor role. Besides, Alex Hales has looked good in whatever opportunities he has got. Manish Pandey has disappointed so far while Shakib and Yusuf Pathan has played useful cameos for SRH.
Delhi's batting has looked promising with Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer forming the core. However, disappointments from the likes of Munro and Maxwell have hurt DD's chances so far. Bowling wise, Trent Boult has been leading the attack well coupled with Liam Plunkett. Amit Mishra has been their go to spinner but has done the distance as well in a couple of matches.
It can be well said that if Delhi are to win tonight at home, it has to be a team effort rather than individual brilliance.
As far as team changes form both camps are concerned, SRH is unlikely to tinker with their winning combination which is doing so well for them. All they would hope for is Manish Pandey to hit some form. Delhi, on the other hand, is also most likely to feature the same XI giving the likes of Naman Ojha and Daniel Christian another chance.
