Rajasthan Royals’ bowlers put on a show against Kings XI Punjab on Tuesday to keep their play-off hopes alive in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Defending the moderate total of 158, Rajasthan reduced the power-packed KXIP batting line-up to 19/3 in 3.4 overs. Krishnappa Gowtham was the chief demolisher with the ball as he removed the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle, for just 1 and then followed it with Ashwin’s wicket two balls later. The off-spinner finished with the figures of 3-0-12-2 as RR restricted KXIP to 143/7 in 20 overs.

In an interview with the official website of IPL, Gowtham revealed that he had a plan in place to get rid of the swashbuckling Gayle.

"We talked in the team meeting about what how we were going to bowl to Chris Gayle and we had a plan. So, I didn't think much about bowling to Gayle and stuck to the plan that we discussed," Gowtham quoted.

Talking about his animated celebration after castling the KXIP skipper – Ravichandran Ashwin – Gowtham said: "It's just spontaneous (on his celebrations). I do whatever comes to my mind. The focus is on the job and after that you need to have little bit of fun as well.

Besides the victory, Gowtham also received a good news on Tuesday as he was selected in India 'A' squad for the ODI tri-series against England and West Indies in UK.

Speaking about the India 'A' call-up, the Karnataka lad said his experience of working with the legendary Shane Warne will help him on the tour.

"The experience of working with Shane Warne and his inputs will help in the India A tour," Gowtham stated.
