Table-toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad are hosting the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 39th match of IPL 2018 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Having suffered a humiliating 6-wicket defeat at the hands of CSK two days ago, the RCB players up their game by many folds and restricted SRH to a subpar total of 146-all out in 20 overs.

Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and invited Hyderabad to bat first. In the third over of the innings, Tim Southee proved his captain right by castling Alex Hales’ middle-stump when the latter was on 5. Three overs later, Mohammed Siraj removed the dangerous Shikhar Dhawan for 13.

Just when SRH were tottering at 48/3 after 8.2 overs, Kane Williamson stamped his authority on the match by playing yet another captain’s knock on a tough pitch. The SRH skipper forged a 64-run stand for the fourth wicket with Shakib Al Hasan to bring his team out of the deep hole.

Williamson was eventually dismissed by Umesh Yadav for a glorious 39-ball 56 (5 fours and 2 sixes). Following the wicket of Williamson, Shakib cut loose and hit a couple of boundaries before Southee got rid of him on 35. Yusuf Pathan’s cameo (12 runs off 7 balls) at the fag end of the innings helped SRH to set a target of 147 for RCB.

Southee and Siraj were the stand-out bowlers for RCB. While Southee scalped 3 wickets by conceding 30 runs in his 4 overs, Siraj claimed 3 wickets by giving away only 25 runs in his quota of overs.

Brief Scores:

SRH – 146-all out in 20 overs (Kane Williamson: 56; Mohammed Siraj: 3/25)
