KL Rahul has been batting like a dream in this edition of the Indian Premier League. Fourth in the list of highest run-getters for the season currently, Rahul scored an unbeaten 84 to help Kings XI get the better off Rajasthan Royals in Indore.

Speaking after the match, Rahul expressed his desire to not only score big and just not fast. Earlier in the very first match of the season for Kings XI, Rahul notched up a 14 ball fifty to register the fatest 50 ever in IPL history. Since then he has formed a formidable partnership with Chris Gayle up at the top and the dup has been tonking the opposition bowlers all around the park.

"I want to get as many runs as I can in the powerplay," Rahul told the IPL website. "(However,) I think I haven't converted those starts into big runs for the team; as an opening batsman that's what is crucial.

"If you get off to a good start, even if you get the run-rate down a bit in the middle overs, if you are set till the end you can do the most damage."

Rahul has batted this season with immense calm and composure. Everything from his shot selection to his timing has been pinpoint and precise. He has been able to read the minds of the bowlers and has dominated them from time to time.

Kings XI's chances rests heavily on KL Rahul's form ahead in the tournament. Kings XI and Rajasthan Royals again play each other on Tuesday.
