IPL 2018: Chris Gayle calls his KXIP teammate KL Rahul a "King"

Indian Test specialist KL Rahul has been proving to be an X-factor for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the ongoing 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

In the T20 tournament, Rahul has been continuously dominating the bowlers, amassing 376 runs at a strike-rate of 162.77 in nine IPL 2018 matches that he has played so far.

The Karnataka-born right-hander has shown a lot of maturity with the willow so far in the T20 event and earned a lot of praise from cricket pundits to fans with his brilliant run in the tournament.

Recently, his KXIP teammate Chris Gayle lauded the 26-year-old as “Champion” and “King” after his stunning match-winning knock of 84 off 54 balls laced with seven boundaries and three sixes, which helped Punjab to beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 6-wickets in Indore.

On Sunday (6 May), Gayle went on the social media and shared a picture of himself with Rahul on his official Twitter handle and his post reads, “King @rahulkl #Champion #Kings ????????????????”

Meanwhile, Indore’s IPL 2018 encounter was Gayle’s first outing in the tournament when he returned to pavilion without any double-digit score, dismissed by Jofra Archer’s delivery at 8.

At the moment, KXIP are sitting at the third spot with 6 wins out of their 9 matches and will next play RR at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on 8 May (Tuesday).
