Defending champions Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 13 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai and kept their hopes of qualifying for playoffs alive. This was Mumbai Indians fourth win in ten matches this IPL season and on the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered their fifth loss. 

After winning the toss and opting to field first, Kolkata Knight Riders restricted Mumbai Indians to 181/4 in 20 overs, Suryakumar Yadav scored 59 runs for MI. In the chase Knight Riders lost two early wickets but Robin Uthappa's fifty brought back them on the track but after his dismissal, the team lost the way and fell short of target by 14 runs and ended on 168/6 in 20 overs.
