Kane Williamson, the Captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, has come out and expressed that it is the ability to adapt to different surfaces and being flexible in adjusting to various opponents, that has been the key to the successful campaign of his team in the ongoing IPL season so far.

SRH is currently placed at the top of the table, after having won 7 of their 9 games so far. Williamson was quoted saying about it that, “No secret on why we’re doing well. We’ve adapted to a variety of surfaces,”

SRH reiterated their position by winning a close encounter last night against the Delhi Daredevils on the back of a very good team effort with contributions spread across all departments.

About the game and on how it all transpired, Williamson said, “The new ball was vital, and both teams used it well, and it was a bit of a scrap after that. We came back well with the ball to keep them to a par score. They looked like they’d get some more runs, so it was nice to restrict them,”

Chasing the score of 164, SRH got off to a good start by Alex Hales and Shikhar Dhawan and then Williamson who took the game deep, saw Yusuf Pathan finish it off in the 20th over. A very happy Kane Williamson said about this that, “With the bat, we knew the middle overs were going to be tough but wanted to build partnerships and create momentum, Yusuf was beautiful at the end. The Powerplay overs were important, and Halesy (Alex Hales) was important. An international cricketer after all. Yusuf is very experienced and can hit the ball really well. Fantastic for him to finish the game,”

He further said, “Still got many games left, and we want to still see signs of improvement. Not perfect, but want to keep at it,”
