IPL 2018: Match 35, CSK vs RCB: RCB's battle for survival against CSK

CSK defeated RCB in their previous encounter.

Important game for RCB to move up the points table.

The first of the two games to be played today is amongst two teams who are at two extremes of the points table. CSK is sitting pretty in the second spot with 12 points while RCB is placed sixth with six points. Other teams like MI, RR and DD are there and thereabouts alongside RCB. Interestingly after yesterday's victory against KXIP Mumbai has pipped RCB to the fifth position in the points table which means that every game for RCB now is a must-win game for them.

Every game becomes two times tougher when you have Chennai Super Kings as you opposition and today's game at Pune is one of the same kind for RCB. A lot of thinking has gone behind RCB's finding the perfect XI and balance to win them games. However, the picture has not been one as expected as their bowlers have let them time and time again during the course of the campaign so far.

AB de Villiers' return to the side will certainly lift the morale of the team and will give a huge boost. Concerns still remain with how RCB will play the game as just when they looked to click as a team something or the other has pulled down the confidence of the team. Bowling remains a major concern for Virat Kohli in today's game as RCB tries to tackle MS Dhoni's mind games.

CSK, on the other hand, are coming off a defeat against KKR at Eden Gardens. Misfields and drop catches added to MS Dhoni's misery as his best fielder in the side Ravindra Jadeja dropped two sitters. Plus misfields from senior players highlighted the age factor in the side which has been a constant controversial topic this season ever since the auction.

As far as team changes from both camps are concerned, as MS Dhoni generally favors a consistent XI, he is unlikely to tinker with the playing  XI. RCB on the other hand, will miss Quinton De Kock for today's vital clash. AB De Villiers iss fit and will replace him for this game. Parthiv Patel was seen having a long session at the nets and he might come in place of Manan Vohra despite the opener's 31-ball 45 against MI.
