Kings XI Punjab are hosting the Mumbai Indians in the 34th match of IPL 2018 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on Friday (May 4) night.

After being put into bat by Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma, KXIP got off to a flier with Chris Gayle and KL Rahul shared a 54-run stand in rather quick time. Making his comeback in the playing XI, Yuvraj Singh came to the crease after the dismissal of Rahul on 24 but the southpaw found it difficult to get going before he got run-out on 14.

Batting with utmost authority in this year’s IPL, Gayle continued his good show and recorded yet another fifty (50 runs off 40 balls). After Gayle’s wicket, KXIP lost the plot and gifted away 3 wickets in quick succession.

However, Marcus Stoinis’ 15-ball 29 at the fag end of the innings changed the course of the game as KXIP eventually ended up with a healthy total of 174/6 on the board.

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowler for MI as he scalped 1 wicket by conceding only 19 runs in his overs. McClenaghan, Hardik, Markande and Krunal also claimed wicket apiece.

Brief Scores:

KXIP – 174/6 in 20 overs (Chris Gayle: 50; Bumrah: 1/19)
