Australian all-rounder D'Arcy Short, who is yet to make an impact in his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018  for Rajasthan Royals (RR), has termed on Wednesday (2 May) their four-run loss to the Delhi Daredevils (DD) on the DLS Method as tough to soak up.

At the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, the RR had to face a steep chase of 151 in 12 overs after Delhi finished its innings to a crucial halt at 196 for 6 after 17.1 overs in a rain-curtailed IPL 2018 encounter on 3 May.

However, Rajasthan also had a great start provided by Short’s 44 off 25 balls and Jos Buttler’s stunning 67 off 26 balls, but lack of partnerships in the middle cost them the Delhi game.

It was RR’s fifth defeat from eight matches that they have played so far in the IPL 2018, and they are almost out of a playoff berth for the 11th edition of the T20 tournament.

As per reports in Wisden India, D'Arcy told reporters, “It’s a tough loss for us. We would have liked to win today but chasing 150 off 12 overs is quite a tough task as well. We did quite well to get to where we did.”

He further noted, “After the first lot of rain, we thought it was still an even game but the second lot kind of makes it a bit difficult, when you only have 12 overs to chase 150 with Duckworth-Lewis. I think the second lot of rain definitely hindered us a little bit.”

Commenting on RR’s playoff chances, Short signed off by saying, “Not so much, I think we are taking each game as it comes. I know we have to win each game; each game is kind of an elimination game from now on. I think we just have to have clear plans and stick to our plans. We all know what we need to do and have the confidence and back ourselves.”
