Karnataka-born Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham feels grateful to get an opportunity to showcase his talent in front of the huge crowd in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, as he did not a get a single match last season with Mumbai Indians (MI).

The RR spent a whopping INR 6.2 crore on Gowtham to acquire his services for the 11th edition of the T20 tournament thanks to his stellar display in the Karnataka Premier League and the domestic season, and even the all-rounder is also meeting with the expectations.

Last weekend (22 April), Gowtham hogged headlines for his brilliant all-round display for the Royals against the MI at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The right-hander came to rescue the RR when the hosts needed 43 runs in 17 balls, playing blitzkrieg innings of 33 runs off 11 balls to guide the Royals to 3-wickets win over the defending champions.

However, Gowtham is not satisfied with himself in the IPL 2018 so far, as he wants to greatly contribute in teams cause with both bat and the ball, and he is looking forward to do the same in the coming matches of the franchise in the T20 extravaganza.

Gowtham told Sportstar, “It’s a wonderful feeling that the game came out really well. Being a part of winning side is the best feeling you can have. Yes, people start recognizing you and that’s the good part about it. I wouldn’t say I have proven my credentials as of now. There is something still lacking, I think I need to do both – bat and bowl – in the same game. That’s when I would say I have done something for the team. There are a lot of places that I can improve and I look forward to doing it in coming games.”

The 29-year-old also said that the lucrative T20 event is a grand platform for the youngsters to showcase their talent in front of a huge audience, and he wants to take the great opportunity with both hands.

Gowtham signed off by saying, “It’s a bigger stage, a bigger audience watching you and everyone knows what you can do with the ball and bat. It has given me a stage to express myself better.”
