Having entered into the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) with plenty of expectations, the star-studded Mumbai Indians outfit have disappointed quite a lot of their fans. In 6 matches of IPL 2018 thus far, MI have managed to register only 1 win and are currently placed at the last spot in the points table.
Amidst the negativity and below-par performances, skipper Rohit Sharma remains confident that his troops can turn things around in the remaining matches by playing a fearless brand of cricket.
In a video shared by Mumbai Indians on their official Twitter page, Rohit said: "From here on, its all about never say die attitude. We want to get that in our game. When we play fearless cricket, the best cricket comes out of us. I expect the same from all of us going forward."
Sharma, who has led Mumbai to IPL triumph in 2013, 2015 and 2017, also talked about his team needing to get the basics right.
"Important things are to do our basics right and understand the situation of the game. Going forward, it is important to cash in whenever its necessary," Rohit asserted.
"If we can show 10 percent of the abilities we have, I think we will get the results that we will be looking for. As a group its better to not think that far ahead. We've just got to stay in the moment and think about one game," he added.

The equation to qualify for the playoffs is rather simple for the Mumbai Indians. The defending champions will have to win seven out of their remaining eight matches now. Besides Suryakumar Yadav, none of the MI batters have managed to stamp their authority in IPL 2018 so far. Except for his breathtaking 55-ball 94 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, skipper Rohit has failed to get past 20 runs in five innings.
Aside from the batsmen, Mumbai bowlers have also let the team down. Although the 20-year-old Mayank Markande has impressed one and all with his leg-spin, he hasn’t got much support from his teammates.
Mumbai Indians are scheduled to play Chennai Super Kings on Saturday (April 28) night.
