Shreyas Iyer had a great start to his captaincy stint as the responsibility brought best out of him against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday.

The newly appointed Delhi Daredevils (DD) skipper scored 93* off 40 balls -- the highest score on captaincy debut in the history of IPL, to help his team put up a huge total of 219.

Talking about the new role, Iyer said he wasn't under pressure at all while leading his side for the first time. "I wasn't under pressure at all. Leading to the IPL, I led few teams back home. The feeling was amazing, winning the first game for DD. Winning the game in between the tournament. Its never happened", he said.

Praising the DD openers, Colin Munro and Prithvi Shaw, he said, "You guys (Munro and Prithvi) gave us a great start. I backed myself and whenever I see, I can take spinners on and I took them on."

Iyer grabbed attention with his uppercut to former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson. "I think its an instinctive shot. I had an intuition he will bowl those balls again. I was just ready for that shot and luckily it hit the bat", he explained.

Delhi were led by Gautam Gambhir in first six games. They could only manage to win one game out of six. The appointment of new skipper seems to have changed the fate of DD. Almost every game for them is now do-or-die and they can't afford to miss out on any match.

Their last game against KKR can turn out to be a push for them in this season with the half of tournament left. They were good with both, bat and ball, and hence it was easy for them to register a 55-run win.
