The teenage batting prodigy from Mumbai – Prithvi Shaw, who led India to the triumphant Under-19 World Cup earlier this year, has once again grabbed the attention of the cricketing fraternity by scoring a scintillating 62 off 44 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday night.
Featuring in his very second IPL match, Shaw stamped his authority on the cash-rich event with some mesmerizing strokes.
The highlight of his breathtaking knock was the wristy helicopter shot off Mitchell Johnson. It was a full length delivery onto the stumps from Johnson and Prithvi nonchalantly hit it over deep mid-wicket for half a dozen runs.
Soon after the shot, cricket fans started drawing parallels between Shaw’s wristy helicopter strike with CSK skipper MS Dhoni, who is known to be the inventor of this stoke.
