The newly appointed captain of Delhi Daredevils, Shreyas Iyer played very beautifully for his 93*off just 40 deliveries. He gave Delhi a bit of confidence after winning his first game as a skipper. He is a quality player who likes to play big innings for his side. He played tremendously well and carried his side through, along with the experienced guys.

He also becomes the first captain and the first Delhi Daredevils batsman in IPL to hit 10 sixes in an innings.Prithvi Shaw, who played his second IPL match, also scored his maiden half-century; while Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell also came to the party hitting boundaries.

Bad day for KKR bowling department

It was a very bad day for the bowlers of Kolkata Knight Riders as they were pounded badly by Shreyas Iyer and co.

All the bowlers of Kolkata were very expensive in the match. None of the KKR bowlers had any answers on this pitch and were taken to the cleaners. A few dropped catches added to their misery.

Kolkata bowlers will definitely try to forget this regretful day, after leaking 219 runs. It proved to be a learning experience for the young Shivam Mavi. He should stick to his strengths, rather than trying fancy things.

Kolkata Knight Riders needed to make 220 while chasing a mammoth target set by Delhi Daredevils. It was something exceptional from Delhi Daredevils batsmen who were all charged up to bat.

In the last five overs, Delhi Daredevils scored 79 runs to build a strong total of 219, whereas there were few catches dropped by KKR's Nitish Rana, which led Delhi to score a big total. This was the best performance of Delhi Daredevils so far this season.

Effective and dominating bowling performance from Delhi Daredevils

Chasing 220 is a tough task for any team, and lack dew in the second half made it for the Knight Riders to score. DD bowlers Boult, Avesh Khan and Plunkett were on the top of their game and restricted them 55 runs short of the winning target.

Delhi bowlers hit the deck to limit Kolkata Knight Riders to a low score, where only Andre Russell gave some hope to his team with his batting, but the asking rate was way too high for him to be effective enough.

Delhi's second win of the season

This was Delhi's second successful outing of the season and with this win, DD is up and running. But they have a huge task on their hand, as they need to win 6 games out of their remaining 7 matches to qualify for the playoffs. It's a tough ask for them, but with a renewed vigor, they seem ready for it.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders have lost their second consecutive match and will surely bounce back with a better performance and form in the next encounter.
