Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders are fighting it out at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Delhi Daredevils are playing under the tutelage of Shreyas Iyer and are looking to start afresh. KKR, on the other hand, is looking to move up the points table.

DD left out their former captain Gautam Gambhir and got off to a good start batting first, after KKR captain Dinesh Karthik won the toss and decided to field. Though Colin Munro got out for 33 off 18 balls, Prithvi Shaw hit his first T20 fifty, and was looking good; before Chawla ended his innings for 62 off 44 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Rishabh Pant followed him back to the hut on his first ball, as Russell had him caught behind for a first

Shreyas Iyer then took over from Shaw and slammed brilliant fifty off 29 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours on his debut as DD captain. In a 73 run partnership with dangerous Glenn Maxwell (27 off 18 with 2 sixes and 1 four); Iyer played a captain’s knock of 93* off 40 balls (10 sixes and 3 fours) to take DD to 219/4 in 20 overs.

Mavi went for 58 runs in his 4 overs for a wicket, while the wicket takers were Chawla (1/33), and Russell (1/28).

Twitter was in amazement of a rejuvenated DD performance and lauded the efforts of Iyer, Shaw and Maxwell.
