Dinesh Karthik, the Kolkata Knight Riders Captain, has come out and expressed that he is going through a "very interesting phase of my life". The right-hand batsman and wicketkeeper, has found a new reign of life internationally for Team India emerging as a fine option as MS Dhoni comes to the end. He was bestowed upon the responsibility of leading an IPL franchise and has done a substantial job at it so far.

He recently talked about it in an interview to India Today and said, "Definitely, it is a very interesting phase of my life, the way things have panned out. I am really honoured to be leading a franchise like KKR, to be made their captain and lead a group of young boys has been an absolute honour and pleasure. I am thoroughly enjoying it,"

He continued, "I am not much of a goal-setting person but I must say that it has been a good journey. It has been interesting. There are a lot of small-small battles that you need to win on the field as a captain - the kind of bowling changes you make, the kind of field you set up, the kind of homework you do and so on. So it has been interesting as there is a lot more on the plate when you have to basically think about a bunch of 11 individuals consistently. It has been good so far as the boys have reacted well to me and I have had some good time so I am definitely enjoying it,"

Dinesh is also quite unperturbed by the points table from the league so far that hasn't even reached halfway through the finish. KKR has won three of their six games so far and is in the top four. He said, "I think it is just too early to be looking at the (points) table right now. It just feels good that the games that we have won, we have won pretty well, we have batted really well and also bowled and fielded quite well. And the games that we haven't won have gone close. So that is a good sign. We need to take out the positives from these kinds of games and keep on moving forward and not committing those mistakes again."
