Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has finished off an IPL 2018 game for his team against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by playing a magnificent inning (70* off 34 balls) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday (25 April).

For his match-winning innings, the Indian stalwart has been all over the social media and continue receiving praise from the fans to cricket pundits. But CSK head coach Stephen Fleming feels it is unfair to overlook another brilliant inning played by Ambati Rayudu against the RCB.

Rayudu, who played his another superb knock of this IPL season of 82 off 53 deliveries and added 101 runs for the 5th wicket along with Dhoni and played a crucial role in CSK’s win over the hosts.

It is the first IPL season with the CSK for Rayudu, who has opened the innings for the side in the last five games but forced to bat at No. 4 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), despite this he has played a 37-ball 79 runs brilliant knock, and Fleming says “he has been instrumental in us winning games.”

As per reports in Wisden India, Fleming told media after the match, “Dhoni is going to get a lot of headlines but the innings from Rayudu was outstanding as well. He has been the form player for us in all conditions and has followed on from the Hyderabad game with another instrumental knock.”

On being asked about what has led to Rayudu’s transformation, CSK coach said, “Opportunity. Having the confidence that he is a part of this team. And also the backing of the team to play aggressively. He has batted at a couple of different positions but has got the confidence and the security of a regular position. He is now experiencing how good he can be with some good form and confidence.”

Fleming signed off by playing, “The power game he has got has gone unnoticed but we certainly value the performances that he has put in this year so far. He has been instrumental in us winning games and staying in the games. I couldn’t be more happy with him.”
