Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Kane Williamson has admitted on Thursday (19 April) that neither they batted well nor bowled against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), which cost them the Mohali IPL 2018 game.

It was SRH’s first defeat in the ongoing 11th season of the IPL after registering straight three wins in a row, and for which the New Zealander credited Chris Gayle, who hammered a ton to win the match for KXIP.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the SRH skipper has praised Gayle for his match-winning knock of 104 not out off 63 balls, saying the West Indian was at his best on Thursday. He also said that the Orange Army should learn from their mistake here.

As per reports in IANS, Williamson told reporters, “Hats off to Chris, he was at his best. We know what he can do. It was a fantastic hundred and they deserved the win. We weren't up to the mark tonight.”

The 28-year-old also urged his bowling unit to learn from KXIP bowlers the way they bowled in Mohali, as they successfully defended the 193/3 by dismissing the Hyderabad at 178/4.

Williamson signed off by saying, “We can learn a few things from the way they bowled. They bowled a touch short, we were much fuller. Tonight, our loss wasn't because of lack of effort. The lengths they bowled was superb, they used the big boundaries well.”

The SRH will next play  Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home on 22 April.
