Twitter has been buzzing since yesterday after Chris Gayle the first hundred of the season, his sixth in the IPL and his 21st overall in T20s.

Gayle scored an unbeaten 104 off 63 deliveries as Punjab won the match by 15 runs. It was then in the post-match presentation ceremony that Chris Gayle came pout with a comment that has been doing the rounds in the media.

He very lightheartedly said Virender Sehwag saved the IPL by picking him in the IPL auction. Gayle went unsold in the first two rounds in the 2018 IPL auctions. Finally in the third round Kings XI Punjab roped in the Universe Boss for 2 crores which was his base price.

Gayle missed the initial matches for KXIP. He was given his first game when KXIP took on CSK at home. He scored 63 in that game and followed it up with a ton in his next.

After the match it was Gayle who had first claimed that Sehwag had saved the IPL by buying him at the IPL auction.

"I think Virender Sehwag saved the IPL by picking me,” said Gayle. “Everyone says I have a lot to prove. I am just here to put some respect on my name," Gayle said on Thursday after smashing an unbeaten hundred against SRH.

After Punjab's 15-run over SunRisers Hyderabad, Sehwag hilariously claimed on Twitter that he had saved IPL by picking up Gayle at the IPL auction.

Gayle scored 26 from a Rashid Khan over who gave away 55 from his four overs.  This was Punjab's third win of the season but for SunRisers, it was their first defeat after three successive wins.
