English all-rounder Chris Woakes, who is currently playing his trade for Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, has opined on Thursday (19 April) that the RCB need to improve in all departments to succeed in the tournament.

As per reports in The Hindu, Woakes said, “We’ve got all sorts of areas that need improvement. We’ve not put in our full performance with the bat and ball. Losing wickets in clusters is something we need to look at. It is not ideal to lose two wickets in an over or three wickets in the space of two overs. Death bowling is also something we need to work on. We have a plan, but we need to execute it.”

Recently, RCB captain Virat Kohli has expressed his desire to compete in county cricket before heading to England later this year; and Woakes says it will be a great experience for Indian skipper.

The pacer signed off by saying, “Having really good overseas players makes county cricket stronger. It will be a great experience for our young guys to bowl to Kohli. But hopefully, Kohli won’t score too many runs and come into the international series in good form (laughs).”

So far, RCB has won an only game in their four outings in the IPL 2018, and now they will play the hosts Delhi Daredevils on 21 April (Saturday).

It is learned that New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has joined the training session on Thursday after recovering from an illness, and might feature in RCB’s Plying XI in Delhi.
