Umesh Yadav of Royal Challengers Bangalore bowled a cracking first over that left Mumbai to a very poor start. Umesh took two wickets in the first two balls of the first over with taking stumps of Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan. He broke Mumbai's top order on the very first two deliveries that had given Rohit Sharma a setback. Umesh Yadav is a great opening pace bowler who can damage any batting line-up on his day.

Rohit Sharma's magnificent innings

After the first over terror, Rohit Sharma the captain of Mumbai Indians needed to stick on the field to rotate strike and put boundaries on the board as well. He was expected to fire in this match as his form and performance in previous game had been worse.

Since Rohit Sharma was playing in his home ground fireworks were presumed from his batting. He played a plenty of beautiful shots all over the park to score and register the highest individual score till now in the season. His elegant timing was a treat to watch.

Hardik Pandya came in the end to play an important cameo taking his team to a mammoth total of 213 runs.

Mitchell McClenaghan dismissing De Kock and De Villiers in the same over

It was crucial for Mumbai Indians bowlers to give their team a good start by taking RCB's top order down quickly. Mitchell McClenaghan did exactly what his team unit wanted from him. He easily removed both the Proteas early in the second innings and the pendulum of the game was in totally with Mumbai Indians.

Mitchell McClenaghan also has a great record against Virat Kohli, he has dismissed him four times in IPL. After the top order failure, no other batsman except Virat Kohli took responsibility to stick on the crease and hence it cost them the match. It was actually the main turning point of the match. If AB would have been there the results could have been different.

Virat Kohli- The highest run-getter in IPL

Kohli scored an unbeaten 92 and became teh highest run getter in IPL in the process. (IANS)

Virat Kohli came to open with Quinton De Kock in the absence of out of form Brendon McCullum. Virat Kohli played his one of the best knocks to save this match for his side but failed due to no response from the other hand. Virat scored an amazing 92, battling as a lone warrior.

He has also surpassed Suresh Raina to become the highest run-getter in Indian Premier League with many more runs to be scored in this year's tournament. His enormous and gigantic innings led him to be currently the Orange Cap holder.

He must have anticipated more than his batsmen but all of them were in so hurry to go back in the pavilion.

Mumbai Indians first win of the season

Mumbai finally got their first win. (IANS)
Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore to seal their first victory of the season after losing their first three matches. They gather two points after straight three loses. It was only possible because of Rohit's classic and fine innings. They will like to continue their winning form. They have won the match by 46 runs to give a sense of joy to their home cricket audience.

This is for the fourth time it has happened in the tournament that team who batted first have successively won the context. Royal Challengers Bangalore will badly need their star players AB De, Bazz and De Kock to perform consistently otherwise they will have to suffer.
