While Gautam Gambhir was the captain of KKR, Sunil Narine was his go-to bowler. Seeing both of them go against each other in Kolkata was a sight which was rare and unbelievable. They had a long chat with each other before the game got started. 

During the game, Narine picked up three wickets and got to his 100th IPL wickets as KKR won the match by 71 runs. Narine and fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav bagged three wickets each while Tom Curran, Piyush Chawla, Andre Russell and Shivam Mavi took one wicket apiece for the home side.

Narine thus became the second overseas bowler to take 100 IPL wickets inly second to Mumbai Indians' Lasith Malinga who has 154 wickets to his name.

The 29-year-old is now the purple cap holder as well with 7 wickets this season so far in four games and is tied for the top spot with Mayank Markande (Mumbai Indians) and Chris Woakes (Royal Challengers Bangalore).

"I am not still exactly 100% with the ball, but I am doing whatever the team wants me to do. Doing the basics and not allowing too many things to cloud my mind. It's coming well at the moment."

"I think I am slightly different as a spinner, but I believe in accuracy and keeping the ball as straight as possible, that's working well for me. I try to do new things and hopefully it works in the game," Narine said after being presented with the purple cap by Ian Bishop.

When asked about playing against his previous KKR captain Gautam Gambhir, Narine said  "It felt a little weird knowing Gambhir was on the opposite side. But that's cricket (team without Gambhir), that's part and parcel of the game, we all put heart and soul into the game and he now belongs to another team," Narine added.

KKR on Monday rode on on Nitish Rana and Andre Russell's heroics to snap a two-game losing streak and register a 71-run victory over the Daredevils in a rather one-sided affair.
