Gautam Gambhir’s homecoming

Gautam Gambhir returned to his second home but not as the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders but Delhi Daredevils. It was Gautam’s 50th match at Eden Gardens. he must felt familiar with the quality of the pitch and with the players of the opposing team as he has spent more time in Kolkata’s dugout than of Delhi Daredevils. He has represented Kolkata for seven long years and took his team to win IPL two times in history.

Russell’s burly innings

Russell scored 41 off 12. (IANS)
Andre Russel of Kolkata Knight Riders played incredibly well for his super quick innings of 41 runs in just 12 deliveries. This was one of the best knocks from the Caribbean all-rounder as earlier Kolkata was struggling in the early overs. With scoring just 50 runs off their first six, they were in a big trouble as batsmen like Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn were already in the dugout.

Russell’s knock included 6 big sixes as Kolkata cruised to a big total of 200.  Russell had his beast mode on with raining sixes at Eden Gardens. Surely his onslaught innings was the best part of the match.

61 off 22 balls- The partnership

The patrtnership kicked off the KKR innings. (IANS)
Nitish Rana and Andre Russell had a very useful partnership with their team of 61 runs off just 22 deliveries that actually created Kolkata’s temperament and flow to handle Delhi a huge target. It started off with the brilliant batting of Nitish Rana who was very sharply hammering the ball and after what just happened was a treat to watch for all Kolkata’s fan.

Nitish Rana played beautifully for his 59 runs. He is looking good for Kolkata Knight Riders and is a real contender for orange Cap. Rana went berserk to give his side a total they can easily defend.

  Narine’s 100th IPL wicket

Narine picked up his 100th IPL wicket in the game. (IANS)
Chris Morris became Narine’s 100th victim in Indian Premier League. Sunil Narine has now become the third overseas bowler to grab 100 wickets in IPL history. Narine bowled exceptionally well to bowl out Delhi Daredevils on a very low score.

He took three wickets in the match to award himself the Purple Cap as he now equals Mayank Markande on the list of most wickets. He must be delightful after taking his 100th wicket as it was his 100th wicket for Kolkata as well.

Kolkata’s return to winnings ways

KKR won the match by 71 runs. (PTI)

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by a huge margin of 71 runs to pack Delhi Daredevils on 129 all-out. It was a clinical performance by the Knight Riders as the team continues their winning streak at home. This win will definitely boost up the players to perform better at after stages.

Russell, Rana’s partnership, and composite Kolkata’s bowling effort made it a tough day for Delhi Daredevils. It was a disappointing return for Gautam Gambhir as his team lost the match miserably.
