Amidst plenty of buzz, Rajasthan Royals faced the star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore side in the 11th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday (April 15). The Ajinkya Rahane-led Royals franchise continued their impressive show from the last match and thrashed RCB by 19 runs.

The atmosphere at Chinnaswamy was as electrifying as ever. Moreover, it was a special clash for RCB players as they were donning the green jersey as a part of their Go Green initiative.

After being put into bat by Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli, Royals rode on Sanju Samson’s effortless 45-ball 92 to post a mammoth total of 217 on the board. Samson’s knock was laced with 2 fours and 10 sixes as most of the RCB bowlers conceded runs at an economy rate of above 10.

In reply, RCB suffered a major blow upfront by losing the swashbuckling Brendon McCullum for just 4. Although skipper Virat Kohli (57 runs off 30 balls) along with Quinton de Kock (26 runs off 19 balls) added a 77-run stand for the second wicket, no other RCB batsman managed to stamp his authority on the match except for Mandeep Singh, who scored 25-ball 47 at the fag end of the innings. Shreyas Gopal was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan Royals as he removed both Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to restrict RCB to 198/6 in 20 overs.

Just like any other IPL encounter, Twitterverse was going berserk. Here are some of the top tweets lauding Rajasthan Royals’ emphatic victory over the strong RCB unit:
